The Springfield Lucky Horseshoes announce Dalton Doerfler as Pitching Coach for the 2023 Prospect League Season.
Doerfler, a Pawnee, Illinois native, joins the ‘Shoes after a collegiate playing career that included stints at Benedictine University and Quincy University from 2012-2017. Following his collegiate playing career, the 28-year-old took on a role at Pawnee High School as Assistant Baseball Coach which is where he spent the 2023 Spring baseball season.
Outside of coaching, Doerfler teaches private lessons throughout the Springfield area and has amassed a network of over 20 different clients. The local talent is ecstatic to be representing his hometown as well as make his mark at the historic ballpark the ‘Shoes call home.
“I’m excited to be a part of the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes organization. The long history of Robin Roberts Stadium and the positive impact the Lucky Horseshoes have made on the community in such a short time is evident and something I look forward to being involved with. I can’t wait to get started!”
‘Shoes Emperor of Engagement Andrew Miller is looking forward to continuing the Lucky Horseshoes commitment of emphasizing local talent within the organization.
“Dalton will be an incredible addition to the staff for both his experience as a player and coach, along with his knowledge and network he has throughout the area. A majority of ‘Shoes the coaching staff hails from the greater Springfield area and as of his hiring, the ‘Shoes will be hosting over 20 athletes who hail from the state of Illinois. We’re looking forward to continuing to place a strong emphasis on staying local both on and off the field.”
The Lucky Horseshoes kick off the 2023 Prospect League Season at home on May 31st. The promotional schedule has been announced and individual game tickets are on sale now.
