The Springfield Lucky Horseshoes and Springfield-based architect firm JH Petty & Associates have entered an agreement for the local organization to serve as lead architect on a Robin Roberts Stadium Ballpark Development Study.

This project will create a development plan for the future of Robin Roberts Stadium with the goal of ensuring its longevity at the current site and modernizing the facility for an improved fan experience. Stadium lighting, a reimagined seating bowl configuration, increased ADA seating, bathroom renovations, increased parking spots, an improved PA & sound system, and a new team store are just some of the areas the study is honing in on. Conceptual floor plans and illustrated renderings of the new proposed design concept will also be shared once they are completed.

The development study was made possible by financial contributions from the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes and Springfield Park District and is planned to be completed in December of 2023.

Lucky Horseshoes Chief Storyteller Jamie Toole is looking forward to seeing what a future at Robin Roberts Stadium may look like.

“We are elated to partner with Joe Petty and the entire team at JH Petty & Associates on this ballpark development study. We look forward to a development that will turn the baseball stadium into a legitimate community institution to host multiple sports and athletic events, tournaments, festivals, concerts, fundraisers, and more. Robin Roberts Stadium has served as the gathering space for residents in our community for almost 100 years and we look forward to taking steps to celebrate the history of this facility while offering modern amenities to our fans.”

JH Petty & Associates President Joe Petty is also looking forward to his team’s involvement with the project at Springfield’s historic North End stadium.

“Robin Roberts Stadium has been an icon for sports enthusiasts in the Springfield community for the past 100 years. We are extremely thrilled to be part of the team that is challenged with creating an accessible environment within this venue, elevating the fan experience for the entire community to be enjoyed for the NEXT 100 years.”

The Springfield Lucky Horseshoes will be hosting a Friends of Robin Roberts Stadium Town Hall event at the ballpark on Monday, September 25th. More information regarding planned projects will be available, including a question and answer segment regarding the future of the 98-year-old stadium. Tickets for the event that runs from 5 PM to 7 PM include dinner, two drink tickets, and soft drinks, and are available now at Tickets.ShoesBaseball.Com.
