The Springfield Lucky Horseshoes are elated to announce Brad Gyorkos as the Field Manager for the upcoming 2024 Prospect League Season.

Gyorkos spent the previous two Summers with the Quincy Gems, former members of the Prospect League, where he led the team to two consecutive playoff appearances, two division championships, and an appearance in the league’s Championship Series in 2023.

“I’d like to thank Jamie Toole, Andrew Miller, and the rest of the Springfield franchise for believing and trusting in me to lead this baseball club. I’m excited to join the rich tradition of Springfield baseball. I can’t wait to start building the winning culture and atmosphere that the Lucky Horseshoes fans deserve,” said Springfield’s new skipper.

The Rockford, Illinois native is entering his fifth season as head coach at Culver-Stockton College, an NAIA program in Canton, Missouri. Gyorkos also spent time as an Assistant Coach at Salem University in West Virginia.

“We couldn’t be more excited to add Brad to the coaching staff here in Springfield,” said ‘Shoes Emperor of Engagement Andrew Miller. “Our vision and desire for the team, both on and off the field, align very similarly, and we’re confident that the Lucky Horseshoes have a bright future ahead with Gyorkos at the helm of the team.”

In two seasons with the Prospect League’s Gems, Gyorkos led the squad to a 62-55 record including a 36-23 mark at home. In 2022, the Gems finished top-five in numerous offensive categories including runs (3rd), RBI (3rd) home runs (4th) and total bases (5th).

“We’re looking forward to this next chapter here with the Lucky Horseshoes and are extremely confident in Brad’s ability to lead this team,” said ‘Shoes Chief Storyteller Jamie Toole. “Brad has extensive knowledge of this league, and moreso, winning in this league which he has proven each of the past two years. We’re excited to introduce him to our players, fans, and community through next Summer!”

Gyorkos will become the second manager in Springfield Lucky Horseshoes history, relieving Zach George who was at the helm for the team’s previous two seasons.
