13-year Major League Baseball veteran Pedro Strop will be representing the Chicago Cubs squad in the 2024 Legends Classic III on May 25th at Robin Roberts Stadium!
Strop joins an exciting Legends Game III roster that includes former MLB players Brian Jordan, Tom Herr, Scott Spiezio, Darwin Barney, Carlos Marmol and Justin Grimm.
Strop, originally from San Cristobal, Dominican Republic, made his debut in 2009 with the Texas Rangers where he spent his first three seasons. After a stint with the Baltimore Orioles, Strop was traded to the Cubs alongside Cy Young winner Jake Arrieta in 2013. The right-handed reliever would go on to play eight seasons in Chicago’s North Side which was highlighted by a 2006 World Series Championship. Strop pitched in a total of 20 postseason games for the Cubbies (19 ⅓ innings) and allowed just four total runs.
After one final stint with the Cubs in 2021, Stop called it a career after 561 career appearances and over 500 innings pitched at the Major League level.
