The Springfield Lucky Horseshoes are excited to announce that Manager Zach George will be returning to the Springfield Lucky Horseshoes for the 2023 Prospect League Season.

George led the inaugural ‘Shoes to a second-half division championship and Springfield’s first playoff appearance since 2016.

“I’m excited about returning with the Lucky Horseshoes for the 2023 season. We were a new team and we grew together, and i’m excited to continue to make an impact on the players any way I can,” George said. “There’s nowhere else I’d rather be. I’m already looking forward to next season’s team and having the great support from our fans. There’s no place like Springfield!”

George, a former Prospect League player with the Quincy Gems in 2012, played an instrumental role in the development of the ‘Shoes, which saw the team finish the 2022 season winning 7 of its last 10 games.

“We are delighted to welcome Zach George back following a successful 2022 season,” said ‘Shoes Emperor of Engagement Andrew Miller. “We’re confident with Zach at the helm, the ‘Shoes are put in the best position to succeed both on, and off the field. He showed us what he’s capable of last season and has truly earned his spot back for the 2023 campaign.”

The 2015 MLB Draft Pick, George played five seasons in affiliated baseball in the Pirates, Royals, and White Sox organizations. Following his playing career, the Arkansas native returned to his alma mater at Arkansas State where he served as a volunteer assistant coach in 2021.

The upcoming Lucky Horseshoes campaign will mark the 25th consecutive season Springfield has been in the Prospect League and the 26th consecutive summer of baseball being played at Robin Roberts Stadium.
